Annuals just released the video for their song Sore off of the Wet Zoo EP. After watching it I can honestly say that I never imagined this song would feature tribal wars and exploding temples, but maybe I just missed that. Great video though.

Annuals are Perennial Favorites

Annuals new EP, Wet Zoo, has just been released and it's not shocking that it's great. There are 3 superb Annuals songs on the disc that sport the soaring vocals and mountainous drums that define the Annuals sound. There are also two tracks by Sunfold, a side project of member Kenny Florence, that sport the same cast as Annuals, but with a little switcharoo action. The Sunfold tracks are quite intriguing in that they have a similar quality to Annuals except that they hold a laconic feel that never gives too much, but doesn't feel lacking. All in all, this sweet little EP has easily perked my interest to the apparent Annuals LP being released in the fall.

Annuals - Frelen Mas : Be He Me B-Sides

If you haven't had the chance to pick up the Annuals debut LP Be He Me, then that's your assignment over this holiday weekend. It should definitely be apart of your collection. Actually while you're at it, go ahead and grab the Frelen Mas EP with it. Sometimes a collection of b-sides doesn't stand par to the original album, but that's not the case with Frelen Mas. I did notice that these songs were the slightest bit toned down compared to the LP though. FM does have the same distinctive multi-layered atmospheric sound that bellows out of Be He Me. The production is straight out of Paul Simon's and Peter Gabriel's notebooks. Lead singer/song writer Adam Baker plays music with such emotion, intelligence, and ferocity, it's hard to believe he's only twenty years old. These guys will be good for a very long time. So go ahead and indulge yourself with booming rhythms, beautiful harmonies, and production that will make you cry(that may be a bit over the top but who cares).

Live and Direct Around Baltimore

The fall season is overflowing with good shows. While evilhomer is at Voodoo today, there are some happenings around the Baltimore-DC area.
On Saturday, New Pornographers roll into the 9:30 club sporting a new album. They're playing with Emma Pollock and Benjy Ferree. If you haven't bought tickets than it's too late. They're sold out. But Pasta has some relief for you right here:

On Sunday at the 9:30 club the Shout Out Louds drop in for support of their new album, Our Ill Wills. The opening acts are Johnossi and Nico Vega. The 9:30 is an awesome venue so all these bands should simply sound wonderful if you're lucky enough to get down there for the shows.
